Frequently asked questions
I want to make sure you have all the information you need to make informed decisions about your fitness journey.
Here are some common questions from clients.
If you have any additional questions, please don't hesitate to contact me.
I offer online personal training programmes personalised to your current fitness and goals. Nutritional guidance to help you reach your goals e.g. fat loss.
These services are offered via my online training app which provides your workouts (with explanatory videos) and allows you to track your food. It is compatible with various smart watches/devices to enable you to connect the data from your existing apps/devices if you want to.
My app also features a messaging service that means you can reach me with any questions, queries or at times when you need a bit of extra support.
Please see the membership plans for more details.
No, you don't need a gym membership. Your plan will be designed around the equipment you have available at home and whether you have access to a gym. Which you will be asked to detail as part of the onboarding process.
If you have nothing at home this is totally fine but there are some relatively inexpensive bits of equipment like sets of resistance bands (less than £10 on amazon) that can be really helpful in adding varierty and intenisty into your programme as you progress.
If you have a query about one of our programmes and/or want some more information, or a chat to see how I could help you then please use the contact form on our website.
Once you have signed up to a programme, you will be given access to the app which has a a messaging system within it. This will allow you to message me directly. I will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible during UK office hours (usually within a couple of hours). Outside of office hours it may take a little longer but I aim to respond to you within 24 hours.
Check-In's
If you have a programme that has a "check-in" included, you will receive a weekly email from me asking for a few details about how your week has gone. (dont worry its should only take a few minutes). This provides valuable context how your nutrition is going and the workouts you have completed in the prior week. We track your progress, how you are feeling and any issues or concerns you have. I review these give you feedback so we can ensure your plan is optimised for you, we can work on the challenges and make adjustments when needed.
You'll be logging your sessions using the app , you can track every rep, set, and weight used, distance covered etc. and time taken will be tracked and synced instantaneously using the app. We will use this data to track your progress and provide feedback.
If you own a wearable (e.g. apple watch, fitbit, garmin) you can sync your existing accounts to the app so that exercises/activity you do on outside fothe gym/home workouts we programme for you e..g running/cycling will be added to your account.
If you choose an online training plan that includes nutritional guidance your trainer will provide you with a suitable calorie target and suggest the protein, carbohydrates and fats nutritional macros appropriate to your goal. We will also provide you access to our recipe database to give you inpiration.
If you require a special diet for any health concerns we advise you to seek help from your GP and/or a registered dietician as we are unable to provide medical advice.
You can track your food intake directly into the food tracker in the app, or if you prefer, you can use the MyFitnessPal app or the food tracking functionality within he fit bit app both of which can be connected to the app.
Using a food diary, is a great way to track that your intake is within your calorie targets and aligns to your target intake for protein etc. It also helps to keep you mindful of consuming an overall nutrient-rich diet.
Progress comes in many forms, such as progress in strength (the amount of weight you can lift and how this increases), measurements, scale weight, improvements in endurance, and of course, assessing body composition changes via progress photos. There are also the less visible benefits that come from simply leading an active life, such as more energy day to day and a better nights sleep. I would encourage you to add as much detail as possible to the app so that we can track progress across multiple metrics.
Once you're signed up, you will be sent a consultation form and health questionnaire to complete. Once you've completed and returned your forms your plan will be created within the next few days.
We know you can have a lot of enthusiasm to start as quickly as possible and assuming you are fit and healthy to start exercising* then the good news is we will provide you with immediate access to a set of New Starter workouts in the app (home and gym versions) that are suitable for everyone. This will allow you to start whilst we work on your personalised plan.
* IMPORTANT Before you workout using the New Starter plans you must ensure that you read the PAR Q form on our website, and can honestly say that none of the issues listed apply to you. If you have any queries or concerns of a medical nature pelase consult with your GP/ your medical professional and get their advice/approval before starting.
This really depends on what your goal is but most clients will see progress after just a few weeks of following their plan. Clearly seeing results will require some adherence (not perfection) on your side, so you will need to work to get the results.
Remember some metrics like scale weight, can fluctuate wildly day to day for reasons unrelated to how adherent you are to your plan are this doesnt mean you are not losing fat over time. Water weight from salty food, food in transit and hormonal changes during a month can all (very annoyingly) show up on the scale s. I advise to either weigh yourself often (every day if possible) to get your head around these entirely normal fluctutions, or alternatively weigh just once a month (at the same time of the month) to get a better perspective of the trend on the scales. The more details you can track the better (photos , measurements and any strength/endurance improvements) over a few weeks (not one day to the next) as that whats gives you a much truer picture of your overall progress.
A monthly subscription can be cancelled at any time, and the same applies to the three-month package following the initial three-month payment. You can cancel directly in the app or I can cancel it, at your request. Once you cancel, you will not be charged again and will be able to continue the service until the end of your current payment period.
